Apparently some...silly magicians or something, from some beach somewhere, are working on a game. The fifth version of it I hear. Whatever.
Here is a Fifth Edition I care about...
Traveller 5th Edition
Check your periodic table of awesome. T5 is the atomic weight of bad ass.

Yeah ... I've got a postcard promising T5 from at least 5 years ago. I'm feeling a little standoffish on this one. Mongoose Traveller works and works well. I watched the video and I'm still not sure about this. Why is dropping $100 pledge on this monster book for later a better choice than spending 100$ on MngT stuff now?
ReplyDeleteI hear you but at the same time, I just don't like Mongoose Traveller. I don't know why. It's very hard to put my finger on but their is something about it that prevents me from doing more then picking up the occaisional supplement.
ReplyDeleteAs noted, I am planning on running Traveller come this August and I'm using the original little black books in the form of those cool reprints Miller's Far Future Enterprises company put out a while back. I am supplementing that with some MegaTraveller material.
I just feel intrigued by the possibilty of a new Traveller that is an update of the old Traveller by the Guy Who Made Traveller.
I can't find any references just now, but 5th ed's a darn site older than 5 years! It was being mooted a year or so after 4th ed went belly up - the omnibus reprints were intended to help fund it. As I recall, it was supposed to be a do-it-all system and sounded phenomenally complicated...
ReplyDeleteStill on the cards then?
I can inquire about the legitimacy and/or reality of this project - we "know a guy", as it were.
ReplyDeleteI would be very interested in hearing any additional intel you can provide.
