We had a GURPS Shadowrun game. Becau...I love these.
We had a GURPS Shadowrun game. Because we were all insane, we got away with characters that didn't QUITE fit the standard Shadowrun tropes (but this was in 1994 or thereabouts). My character was a rigger who had "goblinized" to something resembling a humanoid dragon. Too large to fit easily in places, he drove a converted transport truck that was able to carry him, his various rigs, and the party. (Rigs were waldoes and such for his own use as his hands were too big.)

The story took us into strange places. Specifically, into an adjacent universe infested by what turned out to be a "shadow" of Ravenloft. After MUCH grimdark, moral ambiguity, and outright evil-needing-thwarting, we had all picked up some dangerous things. My guy had a gun that had five black shells. The shells turned into singularities - basically miniature black holes - and I learned that when I used it against a squad of enemies. It was horrible. It utterly destroyed all matter, all energy, magic, everything the little black holes touched. Each of the other team members had a similarly outrageous weapon.

We were facing one Baron Strahd, a meta-vampiric thing whose castle had come into this world and anchored itself, then drained away all the life, light, and goodness from it. Our "helper" in opposing this Baron type (a vampire herself) was opposing the Baron because he would basically suck the last remaining light from this world and leave most of the "native" vamps to die of thirst here, and move on to the next world - OUR original home.

Using our wits and our combat skills and my remaining rig-bat to defeat the guards, we thwarted the attempt by the Baron to activate the magical pattern at the center of the castle (yeah, Amber style pattern) and staked, burned, and vaporized him ... he was defeated, we had won.

Until thirteen years later, says the new Queen of Vamps, when the pattern would regenerate him. Before that, she and her people, and possibly two of our group who had been "influenced" to the dark side, would be prepared to defeat him again, but alas, eventually he would go on to destroy the next world, and the next, because that's what he did.

My Goblin Dragon listened to this, and said "fuck that." And shot the pattern with the remaining four shells in the singularity gun.

The GM took a ten minute break to figure out what happened.Foomfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13949575596792398961noreply@blogger.com
