RPGaDay Challenge 2020 - COUPLE
Couple?
When I think RPGs, one of the first words that comes to mind is Couple. Couple of players, a couple of dice, and...wait...no.
Couple practically never comes to mind.
What am I supposed to do with a word like this? C'mon guys, give me something interesting to talk about. Couple? Like a married couple? I'm divorced. A couple of friends? Personally, I prefer a lot of friends. Come to think I'd prefer a lot of dice to just a couple.
Couldn't the prompt have been A LOT?
I am really stumped on this one. I got nothing. I'd feel like a couple of losers but it's just me.

Certainly does feel like a weak set this year. Maybe they should have gone back to the questions of the early years. I know this was going as far back as 2011. If there was a 2010 version how about just re-running that and looking at how people's answers have changed, if at all? That would have been a more worthy attempt I think than this crop of almost random words.
ReplyDeleteMaybe a ten year anniversary thing could've been fun but I'd much rather see new prompts to the same ones again.
DeleteThe problem I see is that the words this year don't feel particularly feel connected to gaming. That would be fine for a differently themed event but this is RPGaDay; it's not 'SliceofLifeaDay, 'SmallTownaDay', or 'WhateveraDay'.
Why aren't the words more RPG oriented? At least, say, 60% of them. Switch out silly things like Thread, Couple, and other uninteresting words for terms like Obstacle, Alien, Lore, and Worlds.
