Also, he does it with a sense of humor and wit that I found quite funny at many points. Not everything he says is completely accurate but it wouldn't be the first time. Which made me think...many people seem to be getting the same incorrect opinion...so is it possible there is something in the way a game is presented that gives people a particular impression on a cursory glace? Perhaps something in the tone or writing style?
Interesting...
So check these out only if you can take a joke. Thanks to my friend Rocco for pointing these out.
My favorite line is, "The system should be the servant of role playing, never its master."

The way I see it it's all a matter of taste. I do like RQ more than D&D, but that's just personal preference and not because I think it's "better".
ReplyDeleteMeh.
ReplyDeleteHe didn't really need 15 minutes to say that.
Does he have a blog?

ReplyDeleteChecked it out. It seems pretty eclectic, I was hoping for something a little tighter.
ReplyDeleteSeems like a nice-enough bloke.
I like his frank nature, his humor and some of what he had to say simply pegged how I've always felt.
ReplyDeleteIt's not Shakespeare and it's not meant to be but it says what it says and doesn't apologize for saying it. At the same time, it isn't mean or 'I'm right and You're Wrong' oriented. It's one guys feeling on the subject.
Far too ranty, complaining about how heavy the books are and how small the print is does not a critical analysis make...
ReplyDelete@Night Wizard - Agreed...if it were touted as a critical analysis. It's not. And it is an interesting bit if you're in marketing.
ReplyDeleteGRRR!!!!! NOW THAT I AM AN ADULT THIS PRODUCT THAT WAS WRITTEN FOR CHILDREN NO LONGER SATISFIES ME! FEEL MY TRANSATLANTIC NERDRAGE! HULK SMASH!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it is fun if you're in marketing. I'm so glad I'm not in marketing.
To each there own as per usual.
ReplyDeleteNo saying it's gawd's gift to the edition wars or any such silliness. I more found it entertaining and noticed similarities between his silly ranting and my own.
Funny how many responses this post got though, eh? And from whom. Nerdage makes for hits don't it? ;)
